Child of the summer reaping daughter of the harvest moon drowsy highnoon fires leaping faery that departs too soon
This child of the autumn rill wand'rer of rime and wintertide, sees, but never follows, 'till he's done with the cold hillside
But even as the north wind blows and scatters autumn's embers o'er the ground to me thy footstep shows where grasses grow beneath the flower
Eternal as the amaranth, bright in sun and winter snow, her cheeks as red as jacinth her hair like sunset's glow

Seasons of spring dawn in the vernal air, and bright-high the sun burns in the sky, but all my love still is for autumn fair, and for all the bright stars ensnared, by my, my Queen of Autumn's dusky eye, so wreathed in fire, and lit by flames, that like splinters of light in jet encased, like celestial sparks burned ever higher, like diamonds in black – they are stars in her set by some immortal hand, so that softly for her, all heavens have wept.
And all my wonder outcries her increase, as daily 'round me, her fires do wreathe
